Published: 2 August 2017

The address_space_write_continue function in exec.c in QEMU (aka Quick Emulator) allows local guest OS privileged users to cause a denial of service (out-of-bounds access and guest instance crash) by leveraging use of qemu_map_ram_ptr to access guest ram block area.

Notes

AuthorNote
mdeslaur
second commit doesn't look right, lock variable used in dma
field, needs more investigation

This issue caused a regression for Xen users, and was reverted
in USN 3575-2. Since this is a low-severity issue, we are
not going to include it in a subsequent update.
