Should we post things to the Fridge as authoritative? - limited volunteer bandwidth to do this Build personal relationships with journalists - a network of trust Two distinct audiences - "Linux crowd" vs. "Those new to Ubuntu/technology" What is Ubuntu supposed to do currently or how is it supposed to be represented? - some confusion around this Evangelism vs. PR - there is some intersection - but tech evangelism can go too far - we need to be aware that different audiences perceive what we say differently - requires finesse Language barriersĀ  Shelf-life of our news is too short for media, and it takes time to translate, etc OMG Ubuntu comments from Joey Sneddon - Jorge has link What should we be saying to those who would contact us (Ubuntu community)? Some LoCo's are first-point-of contact for journalists, especially non-English languages Try to get into the mainstream media - some countries easier than others Tech journalists have a need for more (or deeper) info than general Do a better job anticipating how stories (changes) will be spun - and use some pre-emptive evangelism (throw a curve ball) Journalists need "scoops". If we can give them a scoop to help them, they (may) become more interested in us Negative bias gained through success Not intending to stifle enthusiastic reporting Need response strategies [jcastro] link to OMG feedback: https://plus.google.com/117485690627814051450/posts/7iErgDYtg3Q Action Items: A unified community voice We all need to be more active on communication (in their own medium - blogs, twitter, etc) Triage (small team) that agrees to present a unified message {rrnwexec] Launchpad team - community only - Ubuntu Evangelism Team
